How the like counter works

Paste a YouTube link into the search box (normal, youtu.be and Shorts links all work) or type part of the title. The like count refreshes every few seconds and the views move on live, so you can watch a new upload collect likes as they come in.

YouTube stopped showing dislikes in public in 2021. The dislike number and the ratio above are estimates from the Return YouTube Dislike project, which bases them on its extension users and older public data. Treat them as a rough guide, not an exact count.

Colours

Where the numbers come from

  • Likes come straight from YouTube: the same exact number the video page loads, read again every 4 seconds. YouTube does not round likes the way it rounds subscribers, so this count is exact.
  • Views are YouTube's public view count. YouTube only publishes a new view count every few minutes, so in between the counter moves on at the pace it measured. Since August 24, 2026 a view counts from the first frame, which makes views climb faster than before.
  • Dislikes are estimates from the Return YouTube Dislike project, refreshed every 30 seconds. YouTube hid the real number in 2021.
  • Comments come from mixerno.space every 10 seconds, so they can be a little behind the video page.

Show the like count in OBS

  1. Open the video on this page, scroll down to "Share, embed or add to OBS" and copy the OBS browser source link.
  2. In OBS, click the + under Sources, pick Browser and give the source a name.
  3. Paste the link as the URL and set the size to 500 by 100 pixels.
  4. The background is transparent. On a dark scene, add &theme=dark to the end of the link for white text.

The counter keeps updating by itself. You do not need to refresh it or keep this page open.

Questions about the like counter

Is the like count exact?

Yes. YouTube shows likes to the exact number, and this page reads that number every few seconds. Only the dislikes are an estimate.

How often does the like count update?

Every 4 seconds. When a video gets a lot of likes at once, the number can jump by more than one between two readings.

Why are dislikes only an estimate?

YouTube stopped showing dislike counts in public in November 2021. The number here comes from Return YouTube Dislike, which works it out from the people who use its browser extension and from older public data, so treat it as a rough guide.

Can I compare the likes of two videos?

Yes. The like comparison and the dislike comparison put two videos side by side and show the gap live.

Does it work for Shorts and live streams?

Shorts work like any other video, just paste the Shorts link. On a live stream the likes update too. For the number of people watching, use the live viewer count.
