Work out the engagement rate of a TikTok account, a TikTok or YouTube video, or any Instagram post. Look it up automatically or type the numbers in yourself.
Check an engagement rate
For several posts, add up their likes, comments and so on, and put the number of posts in Posts counted. Leave a field at 0 if the platform does not show it.

What is a good engagement rate?
There is no official benchmark, and studies disagree a lot. This is the rough guide we use for the rating above. Small accounts almost always score higher than big ones, so compare yourself with accounts of a similar size.
| Low | Normal | Good | Very high | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| By followers (Instagram, TikTok accounts, other platforms) | under 1% | 1% to 3% | 3% to 6% | over 6% |

How engagement rate is calculated
Engagement rate is the share of people who react to a post. Add up the interactions (likes, comments, shares and saves) and divide by followers or by views:
- By followers: interactions per post ÷ followers × 100
- By views: interactions ÷ views × 100
TikTok account
We take the account's total likes, divide by its number of videos to get average likes per video, and divide that by followers. It is a lifetime average, so one old viral video can push it up. TikTok profiles do not show comments or shares, so this rate only counts likes.
TikTok video
(likes + comments + shares + saves) ÷ views × 100, straight from the video's public numbers. TikTok rounds these on big videos, so the rate can be a little off.
YouTube video
(likes + comments) ÷ views × 100. YouTube hides dislikes and has no public share count, so those are left out.
Instagram only shows post numbers to people who are logged in, so we cannot fetch them. Open the post, note the likes and comments (and saves and shares from Insights if it is your own post), and type them in.
FAQ
How do you calculate engagement rate?
Add up likes, comments, shares and saves, divide by followers (or by views) and multiply by 100. For several posts, use the totals and divide by the number of posts as well.
What is a good engagement rate on Instagram?
Measured by followers, 1% to 3% per post is normal, above 3% is good and above 6% is rare outside small accounts. Big accounts nearly always score lower than small ones.
What is a good engagement rate on TikTok?
TikTok is usually measured per view: 3% to 6% is normal, 6% to 10% is good and over 10% means people really react to the video.
Should I use followers or views?
By followers shows how much of your audience reacts. By views shows how well one post did with the people who saw it, which is fairer on TikTok and YouTube, where most views come from people who do not follow you.
Why is there no automatic Instagram lookup?
Instagram only shows likes and comments to logged-in users, so we cannot read them for you. Type the numbers from the post into the calculator above; it takes ten seconds.
