How this Twitch follower counter works

Type a channel name and the page shows its follower count, then asks Twitch again every 5 seconds. Each change moves the number and adds a point to the chart, so you can watch a channel grow while the tab is open. Capital letters don't matter: "xqc" and "XQC" open the same channel.

Where the numbers come from

The follower count is Twitch's own public figure, the one twitch.tv shows on the channel page, only without rounding, so every single follow counts. It changes as soon as someone follows or unfollows.

While a channel is live you also see its viewer count. Twitch refreshes that figure about every 30 seconds, so it moves in steps rather than one by one. When the channel is not live, a small Offline label sits next to the name.

Followers are the free follows anyone can give a channel. Paid subscriptions are a separate number that Twitch keeps private, so no counter can show it.

Show the counter in OBS

1. Scroll down to Sharing and embeds and copy the OBS browser source URL.
2. In OBS, click + under Sources and choose Browser.
3. Paste the URL, set the width to 300 and the height to 80, then click OK.
4. For white text on a dark scene, add &theme=dark to the end of the URL.
