Where did the member count on Reddit go?
In 2025 Reddit took the member count off subreddit pages and out of its apps. Communities now show weekly visitors and weekly contributions instead, so you can no longer see how many people have joined a subreddit. The number did not disappear: Reddit still keeps it and still serves it in its public data. This page shows that exact number.
How the count is read
The count comes from Reddit's public subreddit data, read through the mixerno.space counter API, because Reddit answers our own server with an error. Your browser asks for a new number every 5 seconds while the page is open. Reddit itself refreshes the number about once a minute, so it often sits still for a while and then moves.
Why the number sometimes looks stuck or jumps back
Two reads a few seconds apart can differ by one or two members, because the answer comes from different Reddit servers. So that the counter does not flicker, a drop of 5 members or less only shows once it has lasted a minute. A real drop, like a wave of people leaving, shows at once.
History and the ranking
The ranking above holds about 100 of the biggest subreddits, each read every 30 minutes. For those, and for every other subreddit opened here in the last 14 days, we keep one number per day. That is where "since yesterday", "last 7 days" and the chart on a subreddit's page come from.
