Why Your Snapchat Follower Count Is Not Updating

Snapchat calls them subscribers; most people say followers. Either way, the public number behaves differently from Instagram or TikTok. In short:

• It updates in batches. On 26 September most big profiles changed twice: once between about 05:00 and 08:00 UTC and again between about 15:30 and 17:00 UTC. In between, the number did not move at all.
• It is rounded to the nearest 100. A profile can gain or lose 49 subscribers without the number changing.
• Pages are cached. After a batch, Snapchat can keep serving the old figure for 15 to 30 minutes, so two phones can disagree for a while.
• It often goes down. 105 of the 114 changes we logged were drops.

When Snapchat updates the number

Our Snapchat checker reads every tracked profile every few minutes and writes down when its public figure changes. Since 24 September 2026 it logged 114 changes on 50 profiles. They did not come one by one through the day. They came in bunches:

That is 16 changes around midnight UTC, 50 between 05:00 and 09:00 and 48 between 15:00 and 18:00, and nothing at all in the other hours. So if you check your count at lunchtime in Europe and again in the early afternoon, seeing the same number is normal. The times are when our tracker first saw the new figure, which can be up to half an hour after Snapchat produced it (see caching below).

Why it only moves in hundreds

Snapchat rounds the public subscriber count to the nearest 100. We could check this because Snapchat's own search page carries a separate, unrounded figure for many profiles. For Kylie Jenner it said 29,241,199 while her profile showed 29,241,200; for DJ Khaled it said 11,445,164 against 11,445,200 on the profile. Both are the nearest hundred, one rounded up and one down.

All 129 visible counts in our tracker end in 00. For a small profile that matters: at 1,234 subscribers the number reads 1,200 until you pass 1,250, and a handful of new subscribers can leave it exactly where it was.

Why it goes down

105 of the 114 changes we logged were drops and only 9 were gains. That is not one unlucky account. The same pattern showed up across 50 profiles, in the same batches, and the biggest profiles lost thousands each time:

Snapchat does not say why. What the data shows is that these are updates to the published total, landing for many accounts at once, not people unsubscribing one at a time in front of you. If your own count drops in one of these batches, it is very likely the same thing.

Why the page can lag behind

Snapchat keeps each public profile page in a cache for about 15 to 30 minutes, and the data behind it can be a few minutes older still. Right after a batch, the app, the website and a checker like ours can show two different numbers for the same profile. Wait half an hour and they agree again. Refreshing again and again does not speed it up.

When there is no number at all

A creator can hide the subscriber count on a public profile. Then there is no public number to show, and a checker that reads the public profile shows nothing. 23 of the 154 profiles we track have their count hidden, and our checker says so instead of guessing. A private account has no public profile count either.

Check a count without refreshing

1. Open the Snapchat follower count checker.
2. Type a username, for example kyliejenner, or paste a snapchat.com link.
3. The page shows the figure Snapchat publishes, when it last changed and the history we have. Leave it open and it picks up the next batch by itself.
