Check a public Lemmy community and see the subscriber total reported by its instance. When the server provides it, the result also separates local subscribers from the wider count.

What a Lemmy subscriber count means
Lemmy communities are federated: people can subscribe from different Lemmy servers. The total shown here is the count reported by the instance in the community URL. If its public response also includes a local subscriber total, we display that separately so you can see how many subscribers belong to that server.
Federated servers exchange community data, but they may not have identical or equally recent information. Use the reporting-instance label to understand which server supplied the number.
How to check a community
Open the public Lemmy community page.
Copy its full address, including /c/ and the community name.
Paste the URL above and choose Check subscriber count.
The lookup is read-only, runs when you press the button and does not ask for a Lemmy account or password.

Lemmy counter questions
Why are local and total subscribers different? The local figure covers subscribers on the instance that hosts the community. The broader count can include subscribers known from other federated servers.
Is this a guaranteed network-wide total? No. The tool reports the number returned by the selected instance. Federation updates can arrive at different times, and another server can report a different total.
Can I use a private community? The lookup is for public communities. An instance may omit counts or reject a request when a community is private or unavailable.
